After starting her medical career as a certified nursing assistant for hospice patients, Katie Campbell, PA-C, quickly realized that her love of learning was not going away. That love first led her to school to become a physician assistant and then to the field of gastroenterology. "Gastroenterology is a specialty which encompasses the entire body," Katie explained. "That forces us as practitioners to keep learning, and remaining up-to-date on treatments and management options."
Katie appreciates the challenges of the wide variety of cases she gets to address. "I enjoy delving into GERD and rectal bleeding cases," she shared. "They can resemble complex puzzles. Each of these issues can be caused by a variety of things and it is my job to figure it out."
She also appreciates her coworkers for being supportive and helping her provide the best patient care possible. "My coworkers are always uplifting and willing to lend advice," she said. "And, my supervising physician is a great educator and willing to discuss all things gastroenterology."
Katie and her husband, Cailein, enjoy living in Leland, and enjoy exploring both that hometown and the Wilmington area. "We are huge foodies so we love to try new restaurants in Wilmington and the surrounding areas," Katie said. "We have two very active English Springer Spaniels named Winston and Parker. They are the light of our lives.
