Colorectal cancer screening, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD)
"Most people will experience abdominal complaints or disease at some point in their lives," Jonathan Lamphier, MD, said. "Gastrointestinal disease affects all people regardless of age, gender or ethnicity. Knowing this led to my interest in the field of gastroenterology. It was the way I felt I could help many sick people feel better while improving the quality of their lives."
Dr. Lamphier has been working to do just that for his gastroenterology patients for more than two decades. "I particularly love gastroenterology because most conditions are successfully treated with good results," he shared. "Take colorectal cancer and reflux disease, for instance. Both are common and, when diagnosed early enough, are often treated successfully."
Knowing that early detection and prompt treatment are often the keys to success, Dr. Lamphier encourages his patients to take advantage of screening tools. "A colonoscopy screening should not be a cause for apprehension," he said. "This simple procedure could be life-saving."
Dr. Lamphier works to understand how gastrointestinal conditions affect his patients' lives. He wants to help his patients be as healthy and active as possible. "I love staying active with everything from golf and tennis to water sports and snow sports," he shared. "I want my patients to be able to continue the activities they love as well."
Dr. Lamphier is married and has three grown children. "My wife and I enjoy spending time with our kids and watching them become productive members of society," he said.
